Kano state chief judge, Justice NuraSagir Umar has charged the newly inaugurated sharia court judges to be fair and just in the discharge of there responsibility in accordance with the teaching of Qur’an and Hadith.
He stated this while swearing-in ceremony of the 34 new sharia court Judges held at the Kano state high court premises.
According to Justice Umar, sharia court judges have been playing vital roles in promoting the dispensation of justice among people urging the new judges to emulate their predecessors.
Justice Umar commended the new judges for passing all their examination before securing the new appointment.
He appealed to them to always remember almighty Allah and abide by the Constitution in administering their offices.
He assured them of his readiness to collaborate with the Grand Khadi to look for possible ways of providing them with transport and other logistic, adding that it is improper for a judge and suspect to use the same vehicle.
In his remark, the state Grand Khadi, KhadiTijjani Yusuf Yakasai describe the occasion as historic in view of the fact that it was time in the state for sharia courts to appoint such a high number of judges.
He said with this development, effective and efficient justice delivery to the common man will be enhanced. He commend the state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his approval to that effect.
He pointed out that the appointment was based on merit after undergoing several writing and verbal interviews to secure the appointment and urged them to be good ambassadors of the judiciary and avoid behaviours that could tarnish the image of the profession and judges in the state.
