Pastor Sampson Igwe, President, The Apostolic Church Nigeria, on Tuesday called on political leaders and stakeholders to take decisive action that would urgently address the security challenges in the country.
Igwe made the call at a news conference in Lagos, ahead of the Church’s seventh Quadrennial National Convention slated for Feb. 12 to Feb. 14 at its headquarters in Ketu, Lagos.
“I appeal to our leaders to expedite action in nipping in the bud the issue of insecurity that is seemingly threatening our corporate existence.
“We too should not fail to pray for our leaders in this nation that God should guide them properly in making polices that will positively affect everyone of us as Nigerians.
“The country has been so richly endowed by God.
“All we need are God fearing leaders that will manage the endowment of the nation for the benefit of every Nigerian,” he said.
Commenting on the convention, Igwe said that there would be special prayer sessions for the country.
“The great promise of God could not have come at any better time than now that nations of the world are suffering untold hardship.
“Apart from failing economies orchestrated by the global lockdown of economic activities, there are also cases of violent attacks, kidnappings and banditry,” he said.
The president urged the Church leaders to align with the seven fold agenda of Youth Emancipation and Involvement; Aggressive Evangelism for Soul Winning.
“Church Panting and Growth; Information Management and Dissemination; Unity and Unification of the Church; Warmth and Caring Christian Fellowship and Avoidance of Any form of Dogmatism in Church,” Igwe said.
He said theme for the convention is: “I Will Heal Your Land”, with the text from II Chronicles Chapter 7 vs 14.
Igwe said there were seasoned and anointed men of God whom had been prayerfully selected with the responsibility to deliver messages on various subtopics of the theme.
He congratulated every member of the National Executive Council, the ministers and the Church’s officers for the privilege to witness the convention.
