Yuletide: VIO Warns Jos Motorists Against Reckless Driving

The Jos Metropolitan Development Board Office of the Vehicle Inspection Office, has warned against reckless driving, indiscriminate parking of heavy trucks and illegal springing of motor parks within the Jos /Bukuru during the period of Yuletide .

Speaking to our correspondent on Wednesday in Jos at the JMDB headquarters in Jos North Local Government Council of Plateau state, VIO officer, Engr Jethro  Shikmang stated that the safety of human lives is very important and lamented that drivers were rather embarking on reckless driving just as illegal motor parks were springing up in the metropolis .

He assured the residents of the state government’s readiness in taking the appropriate measures to curtail the indiscriminate setting up of motor parks without license from the agency .

Shikmang urged all business owners operating within Jos, Bukuru metropolis to build their warehouses for their good delivered in long trucks to avoid causing traffic gridlock and government clampdown on them.

According to him, government will partner with media to prevent the springing up of illegal motor parks and the enforcement of some of the decisions arrived at during the stakeholders meeting with the Commission for Transport .

He tasked the general public to report any illegal motor parks not designated by government agency for immediate closure.

He said that , “We have our men on ground to enforce any non- compliance and bring the perpetrators to book .

“We are working hand in hand with the JMDB to safeguard lives and properties of all citizens especially during the period of celebration to avoid unnecessary accidents caused on our roads by motorists .

Wishes motorists, Plateau citizens and all Nigerians a happy Yuletide season, he called on the citizens to obey all protocols put in place to ensure they stay alive.
