Hon Hassan doling out the cash gift to the women beneficiaries
No fewer than 1500 women and other poor persons on Wednesday received free cash donation of N10,000.00 each from the Plateau State former Deputy Speaker, Hon Ibrahim Baba-Hassan as gifts to help them cushion the effects of COVID-19 and in fulfilment of his campaign promises.
The lawmaker who feted his constituents in Jos North-North constituency of the state, disclosed that the main purpose of the cash gift was to mitigate the effect of economic hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that having taken a look at the economic hardship been faced by Nigerian, he saw the urgent need to support the vulnerable in society, most importantly the women folk.
Baba-Hassan raised concern that the second phase of recession may be too harsh on the people, “that is why I considered that let me call my constituents and support them with what they would use in buying foodstuffs for their households.
“As you can see that there are more than 1,500 women and with ten thousand Naira which is a considerable amount to the women, they will still use it to start small businesses and take care of their home front”.
Hon. Hassan said the disbursement was part of his state constituency project, and was carried out in collaboration with the Plateau State Small and Micro Enterprises Agency(PLASMEDA).
“In all I am disbursing the sum of N15,0000 to the 1,500 women,” he added.
Hon. Hassan urged the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously, and further called on them to abide by the protocol guiding the scourge

The speaker of the state house of Assembly, Hon. Abok Ayuba, said because of the viral pandemic, a lots of their constituents are facing hardship, hence the need to support them.
“Most of our members are doing in other to reduce the hardship. Women are our mothers, and so we want to encourage them to also support the family,” he said.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the lawmakers, urging others to emulate him.
Ms. Sarah Fetus enthused that: “I am so excited, I am overwhelmed, I will use the ten thousand to start up a business of my own.
