Traders at the Jos Trade Fair are regretting coming to participate in the exercise as some may spend many nights in an opened space for 13th days without foods.
A group of traders who spoke to our medium described the ongoing 2020, Jos Trade fair as a glorified gathering of petty traders paying high charges by the Plateau Chamber of Commerce and Industry .
They traders opened the chapter of lamentation saying they are regretting coming to participate in such a trade fair that is not different from what is obtainable from an open market .
Mallam Ahmad Turaki ,Salisu Abubakar and Sunny Obi both raised alarm that before they acquired pavilions at the ongoing Jos Trade fair paid for at a high rate, they are yet to any patronage so far.
“We are running at loss,” they lamented .
They said that the implications for a stand and building a make shift cost them between 100,000.00 and 200,000.00 and above depending on the length and breadth of the space .
They urge the chamber to reconsider refunding of their expenses incurred in view of the situation on ground .
The 2020 edition of the trade fair which started running from October 15 to end on November 1 2020 at the Jos Polo Field has suffered under the protest against police brutality and the looting spree by rampaging youths in the tin city.
