The Kogi state government has given an assurance to reposition its health sector for effective service delivery in the years ahead.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Haruna gave the assurance when he received the Executive members of the Kogi state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association at the Ministry of Health Headquarters in Lokoja over the weekend.
The commissioner disclosed that the Governor Bello- led administration is investing heavily in the health sector to safeguard the health of the people.
Dr. Haruna added that the effort is evident in the construction, remodelling and renovation of medical facilities in the state.
He also hinted that medical facilities are being flooded with state of art equipment and medical commodities for effective and efficient healthcare delivery.
Dr Haruna stated that the present administration is working in synergy with other health agencies at different levels to promote the health needs of the people in the state.
The commissioner assured NMA Exco of his commitment to address its major demands that would go a Long way in lifting the healthcare services across the state to the next level.
He appreciated the team for the visit and urged them to key into government planned programmes and policies that will further enhance the health sector for the benefit of all.
In his remarks, the NMA Chairman, Dr Omakoji Oyiguh thanked the commissioner for the golden opportunity to meet with him to brainstorm and cross pollinate ideas that will rejuvenate the health sector.
He expressed confident in the ability of the commissioner to look into the association’s demands to ease the operations of medical practitioners in the state.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mallam Babama’aji Danlami who also spoke during the visit, commended the efforts of Nigerian Medical Association to move the health sector forward assuring of the ministry ‘s continuous support for optimum performance.
