The National President of Fugar Progressive Union, FPU, a socio-cultural organisation, Mr Richard Anetekhai, has appealed for peaceful and violence free gubernatorial poll scheduled for September 19, 2020.

In a statement, Mr Anetekhai said, ” As we enter into the new month of September, which is the month for the 2020 Edo State governorship election, I appeal to all eligible Fugarians to exercise their civic responsibility, by peacefully participating in the democratic process and vote for the candidate of their choice.”

He advised all the politicians, political parties and political groups/organisations operating in Fugar, to carry out their political activities in the best interest of Fugar and Fugarians.

According to him; “All heated political activities must be moderated by all concerned, to avoid a reocurrence of the political violence of the past, that unfortunately resulted in the loss of lives and properties of Fugarians.”

The FPU President implored all the security agencies operating in Fugar and Edo State in general, to maintain public order and safety for the benefit of Fugar and all Fugarians, throughout this election period.

“I wish Fugar and Fugarians the best and may the Almighty God and the spirit of our ancestors grant victory to the gubernatorial candidate, who will fulfil and surpass our collective expectations, as enunciated in the Fugar Community Charter of Demands, Anetekhai prayed.
The top contenders in the Edo governorship poll are the incumbent, Governor Godwin Obaseki of PDP and his main challenger, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of APC
