Jubilant Bayern Players after Gnabry’s opener that tamed Lyon
Bayern Munchen walked over Lyon, 3-0 to set a clash with PSG in the final of the Champions League on Sunday, their eleventh European Cup/Champions League final.
With a brace by Serge Gnabry in the 18th and 34th minutes before half-time, Bayern was able to take control of the game after Lyon had dominated in the first 15 minutes that almost gave them a goal when Cornet’s pass to an unmarked Karl Toko Ekambi, was intercepted by Bayern defender, Jerome Boateng. Unrelenting, Ekambi made another daring effort that hit the woodwork. A goal would have changed the tempo of the game.
In the resumption of play, Bayen, having soaked in the pressure from Lyon, increased their pace and coordination, which eventually led to the 87th- minute goal by talismanic Robert Lewandowski, rising to power a header from a Kimmich free kick. That was his 55th goal of the season.
The five -time champions, Bayern will face PSG in a final on Sunday in an encounter that promises to be dramatic and entertaining.
