Leipzig players celebrating their historic feat
RB Leipzig has won itself a semi-final match with PGS after beating two-time finalist in the last six years, Atletico Madrid. Dani Olmo opened scoring for Leipzig with a brilliant header from a right wind cross by Marcel Sabitzer in the 50th min. And Jan Oblak was caught napping.
Substitute Felix Sequira pulled one back for Atletico from the penalty spot in the 71st min but Adams restored lead for Leipzig in the final moments.
For the records, RB Leipzig are the first German side outside of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League since Schalke in 2010/11.
And Atletico Madrid have failed to progress against a German side in the Champions League knockout stages for the first time ever, getting through on all previous three occasions.
There is no doubt that the game did improve markedly in the second half but Atletico were disappointing, to say the least, particularly in midfield. RB, on the other hand, defended superbly with both Dayot Upamecano and keeper Peter Gulacsi pulling brilliant stunts.
RB Leipzig will face Paris St-Germain in their first ever Champions League semi-final.
