Kareem Benzema equalized for Real Madrid, while Depay opened scoring for Lyon
Talismanic Ronaldo gave Juve two but they were not enough, while Sterling opened scoring for Mancity
Cristiano Ronaldo did it for Juve at the Serie A and almost single- handedly delivered his team into the UEFA quarter- finals with his two brilliant goals through a penalty kick and a shot from 25 yards but Lyon was untameable.
Lyon who were one goal ahead in their first encounter in Groupama Stadium, and opened scoring in the 20 minutes through a penalty and then managed to keep the ball away from goal hungry Juventus.
Houssem Aouar who looked like making the first goal for the visitors when he drove the ball into the 18- yard box in the 20 minute was tackled roughly and the referee did not hesitate to give a penalty which VAR agreed with.
Memphis Depay made a clean one with it in the 20:11 mniutes and registered a valuable away goal. Depay has scored in every Champions League match this season. The goal slowed Juventus’ tempo until, the same Depay gave a penalty to the host in the 43 minutes.
Juve’s Miralem Pjanic took a free-kick, which hit Depay in the wall and the referee gives a penalty for handball.

On resumption of play in the second half, Sterling had moved to the left and almost got a second through a low drive, which was pushed behind by Courtois.
Goal poacher, Karim Benzema made good of his head in the 29 minute to draw level, but Gabriel Jesus, after an interval when it appears it would end one apiece, again took advantage of a sloppy nod by Varane to Courtois, and ended the game 2-1. ManCity had beat Real 2-1, in their first encounter at Santiago Bernabeu, ending the game 4-2 on aggregate. They will meet Lyon for the quarter- finals.

Lyon boss Rudi Garcia: “I have been here a few times with Roma. They are the best club in Italy, a team that wanted to win the Champions League and have an alien.
“We saw Cristiano Ronaldo’s magnificent second goal. Few people thought we could do it. We did it.
“It is the victory of a group. We wanted to be in Lisbon. Here we are. I am proud for our supporters and for Lyon. We must not stop there.”

“We could not expect after 30 minutes be 4-0 up. The second half didn’t have much but we created a lot. The players made an incredible effort – all of them.
“The first half we played with our wingers more inside, not wider. I think that was a mistake from my side. We corrected in the second half and were better.
“It is important, we beat them twice. Zinedine Zidane never lost knockout games. You see the calm and personality they play with, they are good. We are here to try and win the Champions League. It is one step, if we think that is enough we will show how small we are. If you want to win you have to beat the big clubs.
“I just spoke with the scouting department (about Lyon) and they told me to be alert. We have eight days to prepare for it. We will enjoy it and then after we will think about Lyon.”
