PDP:   Court Adjourns Hearing On Conduct of Ward Congresses, Awards N10,000 00 Costs AgainstParty

A Federal High Court presided over by justice Dorcas Agishi on Thursday ordered the Chairman, Election committee of People Democratic Party ,PDP, into the March, 2020 conduct of the ward congresses in Wase local government to pay Hon Jacob Dashe and Kumdul Nantim , Plaintiff,  for delaying the commencement of hearing in two applications brought by the plaintiff .

Jacob Dashe is challenging the Nansel Lakai and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on the conduct of ward Congresses held across the federal wards in Wase LGA , held in March, 2020.

The former Chairman of Wase LGA ,Hon Jacob Dashe in his prayers alleged that the PDP congresses conducted on 7th March, 2020 was full of errors and that the party breached the constitution and guidelines which made him to approach the court for the interpretation of the order .

He alleged that the exercise was marred by irregularities and total disregard to the party constitution and guidelines for the conduct of the congresses at various level .

He, however, pointed out that after the Ward congresses in Wase LGA, he, Jacob Dashe complained to the Electoral Committee, sent by the National Headquarters of the party, headed by the 1st defendant, Nansel Lakai, who remained adamant that the exercise was peaceful .

The Appeal Committee was however, said to have refused to hear the appeals emanating from the Wards which prompted the petitioners to seek legal redress in the court of law.

The plaintiffs are asking for the nullification of the Congresses.

When the case file was called, counsel for the plaintiff, Johnbull Mahwel Esq, told the court that the matter was for mentioning and that there was a pending motion on notice which was duly served on various parties and rife for hearing.

However, counsel for the defendants, Bitrus Dung Esq, told the court that he got a brief on the case yesterday, adding that the counsel that was handling the case withdrew from the matter and pleaded with the court for more time.

This did not go down well with Justice Dorcas Agishi who expressed her dismay over the delay by the defendants adding that it was annoying.

Justice Dorcas Agishi insisted that he has over delayed the plaintiff from proceedings with their application. After careful study of the argument ,she decided to adjourned the hearing to 23rd July, 2020 and awarded a N10,000.00 cost to the plaintiffs .
