President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday waded into the raging leadership crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, by recognizing Chief Victor Giadom as the Acting National Chairman of the party.

Giadom had immediately laid claim to the Chairmanship of the party after the Appeal Court affirmed an Abuja High Court ruling which ruled on the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by his party at his ward, Local Government and State chapter in Edo State.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in his tweeter handle @garba shehu:

“The Presidency has received very convincing advise on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman. Because he will always act in accordance with the law, the President will be attending the virtual meeting Giadom called for tomorrow afternoon.  In addition to the President, the Giadom meeting will, hopefully, be attended by our governors and the leaders of the National Assembly.

“We urge the media to stop promoting manufactured controversies and to not give any further room for mischievous interpretation of the law on this matter.”
