Incoming Commander, General Jimoh and outgoing General Ajetunmobi and the hand-over, take over ceremony at 31Artillery Headquarters, Minna, Niger State.
Brigadier General Jamiu Jimoh has assumed command of 31 Artillery Brigade with headquarters in Minna, Niger state.
General Jimoh took over the command of the Brigade from Brigadier General Gideon Ajetunmobi who has proceeded to Nigerian Army Welfare Ltd by Guarantee (NAWLG) as Executive Director Operations.
According to Major Sydney Mbaneme, Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 31 Artillery Brigade, the brief ceremony to mark the change of baton between the two senior officers took place recently at 31 Artillery Brigade Headquarters, Minna Military Cantonment.
In his farewell address to troops the outgoing Commander Brigadier General Ajetunmobi thanked officers and men for their support during his one year tour of duty and observed that various successes recorded by the Brigade during his tenure were due to their collective efforts. He urged them to extend the same support to his successor.
He described the incoming Commander as a senior officer with vast knowledge and experience, stating that he will bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to bear in piloting the affairs of the Brigade.
The highlight of the brief handing and taking over ceremony was Change of Command Flag between Brigadier General Ajetunmobi and Brigadier General Jimoh, the Outgoing and Incoming Commander respectively.
As part of the events marked out for the change of command, General Ajetunmobi earlier led the incoming Commander on introductory visit to the Commander Corps of Artillery (CCA), Maj. Gen US Yakubu, Commander Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC) Maj Gen MM Mshelia and Commander Training and Doctrine (TRADOC) Command Maj Gen AA Tarfa.
Brigadier General Jamiu Jimoh is the thirty- second Commander since the inception of the Formation.
The senior officer started his military carrier as a cadet of 39 Regular Course, Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) in 1987.
He was commissioned in 1992 into the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery and has since then attended many courses on operations and strategy in Nigeria and abroad outside.
The new Commander has served in various capacities from being Commander Sector 3 Artillery Brigade, Operation Lafia Dole.
He is happily married with children.
