L-R: Ex Gov Ihedioha and current Gov Uzodinma of Imo State
The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of the case filed by former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha to March 2.
The Supreme Court had earlier fixed Tuesday, Febrauary 18 to hear the appeal filed by Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, one month after the apex court nullified his election on January 14 and declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Hope Uzodinma, as the duly elected governor of Imo State.
At the hearing on Tuesday, lawyer to Mr Ihedioha, Mr Kanu Agabi, filed an application requesting for more time to file some processes before the Court.
Counsels to Governor Hope Uzodinma and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) agreed with the application.
On the strength of their submissions, the seven-man panel of the court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed, fixed a new date for the hearing on March 2, 2020.
