The Chairman of Plateau State Arewa Pastors Forum For Peace, APFFP, Rev. Sylvester Dombin has condemned the brutal killing of Rev. Lawal Andimi, the CAN Chairman, Minchika Local Government Area by Boko Haram terrorists.
He said the body has made arrangement for a three days fasting and praying for Nigeria and Christians in the country.
Rev Dombin disclosed in an interview with our correspondence in Jos.
He said the Arewa pastors Forum For Peace has called on the Federal Government to commence thorough investigation into the kidnapping business and genocide against the Christian faithful and kidnapping of innocent citizens in the country.
According to him, “after the gruesome execution of Rev. Lawan Andimi, attacking and kidnapping of another Christian in Jos South LGA occurred. We employ government to do a total overhauling of the security architecture.”
While condoling with the bereaved family, CAN in Adamawa state and Nigeria Christian “over the dastardly act of kidnapping and massacre of a Christian”, Rev Dombin called on the “International community to step in and help the government to halt the onslaught being melted out to believers of christianity and exterminate their generation.”
“We recall sadly that Late Rev. Lawan Andimi while in captivity made a passionate appeal to the leadership of his church and the Federal Government to come to his rescue.
“The Church did everything within her reach to secure the safe release of this pastor but it was not possible because they didn’t have the military power to do so.
“You would recall that last, Sunday, a clergyman, Rev Denis Bagauri was murdered by unknown gunmen in his residence at Mayo Belwa of Adamawa State”.“As a Church we condemn the unabated kidnappings, extortions and killings of Christians and innocent Nigerians as shameful.”
He further stated that “the reprehensible and saddening situation is when each time the government comes out to claim that it had defeated insurgency, and the killings of our people .
Rev Dombin stated that the leadership under APC government has refused to take a critical look at security sector but kept playing politics with the arrest of key players in Boko Haram insurgent allowing them to cause havoc in the name of religion.
Dombin advised Federal Government to fast track the release of Christian hold hostage and are now suffering untold hardship in Boko Haram and ISWAP captivity.
He frowned at government apologists claiming the killings have no religious undertones, stating that “but today why are these terrorists including herders are targeting Christian communities and Christian leaders.”
“The Church has vowed to remain resolute and not to bow to the antics of Muslim terrorists and their sponsors and very soon, God will unmask these ungodly and wicked elements within us .
He concluded: “We urge all Arewa Pastors to set three days apart this week to fast and pray for Nigeria”
