Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has blasted a chieftain of the opposition All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia state, Chief Chikwe Udensi for his recent comment on Senator Theodore Orji.
The President General of the COSEYL, Chief Goodluck Ibem stated this while reacting to Udensi’s comment that Orji failed in his tenure as the governor of the state from 2007-2015 in Umuahia, the state capital.
Ibem said the members condemned in strong terms the comment against the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial district at the National Assembly, saying the comment was absolutely delusional.
His words, “Orji’s tenure witnessed indelible landmark achievements in education, infrastructure, healthcare delivery, youth empowerment, and security of lives and property among others which won him several awards.”
Maintaining that the comment was reckless, ill-tempered and lacking in substance, the president general added that Udensi lacks the know-how of governance by describing the former governor’s tenure as unfruitful.
“We know his problem. He is jealous of Orji’s rising political profile and acceptability by the people. He is unhappy that the Senator has endeared himself to the people of the state. But unfortunately he cannot stop him.”
According to him, Udensi has no electoral value and lacks credibility to speak for any group in the state, adding that it is for this reason that the electorate will consistently reject him at the poll “because he is without vision and purpose.”
“There is no any project that can be attributed to him in his village in Arochukwu. He cannot win even the councillorship seat of his ward. He lives in Abuja and does not know anything happening in the state or any other part of Igboland.”
Querying Udensi’s parameter for measuring Orji’s performance, he argued that it is not out of place to assume that by his actions, Udensi is still suffering from the trauma of the APGA’s defeat in the state in both 2015 and 2019.
He explained that it is on record that since Orji joined partisan politics, he has never lost any elections both at party primaries and the election proper due to his acceptability, performance and records of previous achievement.
He insisted that Orji, fondly referred to as Ochendo Global by his admirers, remains the first leader to ensure the implementation of the state Charter of Equity in the rotation of political offices among the three senatorial districts.
