The crowd that witnessed the official flag-off of the governorship campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lokoja on Friday is an indication that the party would sweep the polls on November 16, party spokesman, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan has said.
Ologbondiyan, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary in a statement on Sunday, said the crowd was composed partly of defectors from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and those rooting for change from the baleful years of the present administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
“The crowd is also an unmistaken demonstration of the fact that Kogi remains a home to PDP, which will further manifest in the party’s landslide victory at the Nov. 16 election,” he said.
“The party also commends the patriotism of members of the APC who have crossed over to the PDP in the last few weeks to queue behind Wada, having realised that the liberation and repositioning of Kogi in the interest of the people can only be attained through PDP and Wada,”
He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to exercise a high degree of fairness in the conduct of the poll, adding that Kogi people are ready to assert their preference for the party to return it to Lugard House.
