The Onu of Aluaja Community in Iyano, Ibaji Local Government Area, Chief Benjamin Akoji, has called on Kogi State Government to release the white paper of the panel of inquiry into Iyano crisis, headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Folashade Ayoade.
The Royal Father recalled that a communal clash between Aluaja community and Abujaga, Iru, tagged: ”Iyano crisis”, generated much heat among the warring communities leading to loss of lives and properties worth millions of Naira on May 24, 2015.
In a statement signed by the traditional ruler which was made available to journalists in Lokoja yesterday, said the call for the release of the report became necessary as it will go a long way for permanent resolution of the lingering crisis.
Akoji urged the state government to release the report of the panel, saying it was long overdue.
The monarch decried the pitiable state of the people stressing the need for the state government to come to their plight.
According to him, in spite the return of the people to their ancestral home, they have not been able to carry out their normal activities such as farming and fishing, which remain their source of livelihood.
He noted that the alleged continuous threat by the Iru and Abujaga was a great concern to them, stressing that it might result to another round of crisis in the community if not urgently resolved.
The monarch appealed to Gov. Yahaya Bello to provide the people of Aluaja, who lost their houses during the crisis with an intervention funds to enable them rebuild their houses.
