The commissioner of police in Kogi State, Hakeem Buhari on Tuesday reaffirmed his renewed commitment to rid the state of criminal elements terrorizing innocent citizens of the state.
The commissioner gave the assurance while parading 42 suspected armed bandits, kidnapers and cultists who were arrested by the police at the Command Headquarters in Lokoja.
Also paraded by the commissioner were those suspected to be in possession of substance believed to be Indian hemp and other heinous Crimes that have been terrorising Kogi state and it’s environs.
CP Hakeem Buhari, noted that, the criminals were arrested by operatives attached to operation puff Adder in the state, through intelligence.
He said that the arrest was further made possible as a result of the comprehensive crime prevention and control strategies adopted by the operation Puff Adder through intensive patrol and raids of identified criminal hideouts, black spots and flash points.
According to the CP, other measures adopted includes, stop and search across Kogi state which he said led to the arrest of twenty suspected criminal elements which he said have been terrorising the innocent people of Kogi state and it’s environs.
Speaking further, CP Busari said, “The ongoing onslaught against crime and criminality in Kogi state by the operatives attached to operation Puff Adder recorded yet another successes.
He said that investigation is on going to arrest other members of the gangs, which he said are currently at large, saying that the suspects will be arranged in court for prosecution on completion of investigation.
Busari maintained that the renewed commitment of the Kogi state police command to sustain the tempo of the fight against criminality in the state and guarantee protection of lives and property remains unequivocal and unwavering .
The criminals were arrested from various locations, which includes; Zango marked, Apata area, crusher village all in Lokoja Local government area, Aiyetoro-gbede in Ijumu LGA, Anyigba in Dekina LGA and Imo Estate in Ajaokuta LGA among others.
