Gov Ikpeazu of Abia State
The newly appointed Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Abia State governor, Barrister Onyebuchi Ememanka has said Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is not averse to constructive critisim.
Ememanka stated this during a meeting between him and the Correspondents’ Chapel of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Umuahia, the capital.
According to him, Ikpeazu does not only welcome such criticisms with open hands, but goes as far as seeking expert opinions on the matters raised to find lasting solutions to them.
He said it is through such gestures that the administration identifies areas it is expected to improve upon, appealing to their authors to also be mindful to point out areas it has excelled.
The CPS used the forum to solicit the cooperation of the members, saying he will place their interest in the front burner of the office “to assist me in succeeding in the job.”
“My achievements or the extent I will go in this office will depend largely on the level of synergy and cooperation between us. I am convinced beyond every doubt that you will be for me,” he pointed out.
Emenanka, who said he would go the extra mile to ensure he delivered on his part of the bargain, assured them that his doors would be open to them without discrimination.
He explained that much as he will not want them to compromise the ethics of their profession, he will always want them to hear the administration’s side of every allegations levelled against it.
In his response, the chairman of the chapel, Comrade Obinna Ibe, assured him of the readiness of the members to partner with him and the administration to deliver on its mandate.
Ibe frowned at situations where government officials refuse to respond to journalists’ inquiries on burning issues, saying such attitude most often lead to misinformation of the public.
