IGP Orders Manhunt of Attackers On Police Station, Killing DPO, 4 Others

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Muhammed had ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators of the attack on Aguda Ekpetiama Police station in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State in the early hours of Monday

The attack led to the death of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, SP Ola Rosanla with three other police officers with two others left injured.

According to statement by DSP Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, the IGP “ Pledged that no stone would be left unturned in apprehending the perpetrators of the crime and bringing them to book.

He said the IGP has ordered the immediate deployment of the crack detectives from the Intelligence Response Unit, IRT, the Forensic and Homicide sections of the FCID and Special Operatives of the Marine Police Department to Yenagoa to complement the efforts of the Bayelsa Command of the Nigeria Police Force in carrying out discrete investigation of the crime.

He said, “The IGP paid tribute to the fallen officers and condoled with the families of the four cops who were killed by the criminals.” He described the incident as a classic example of the risk and sacrifices the police are exposed to in their daily task of protesting the people.

He assured the Agudama Ekpetiama community ad the entire people of Bayelsa of their safety and urged them to remain calm and avail the police with credible evidence that will help the law enforcement agencies to unravel the cause of the incident.
