Sango
The State Executive Council, SEC, of the People Democratic Party, in Plateau state at a meeting held on Friday described the state chairman Damishi Sango as the worst and most corrupt chairman Plateau state has ever produced since the dawn of democratic governance in 1999.
The spokesman of the party, Comrade John Akans who briefed journalists shortly after the closed -door meeting held at the party secretariat in Jos, faulted Sango for siphoning the party’s campaign funds during the last election.
He said from the reports submitted to the SEC by the Comrade Hansi Suleiman fact -finding committee, Sango and his Deputy, Amos Gombi abused their offices and misappropriated party funds. According to him, the fact available before them shows how the state chairman embarked on indiscriminate spending of campaign funds without any accountability.
Akans said the shameful act led the committee to recommend the suspension of Gombi and expulsion of Sango.
He explained further that base on the constitutional provision of the PDP, the state SEC would confirm the outright suspension of Gombi and also extend the suspension of Damishi Sango for another one month to enable them front load all the required documents that can lead to the sacking of the Sango led executive .
The PDP secretariat was guided by the police to safeguard the SEC members during the meeting held behind closed- doors and chaired by the Northern Central Chairman of the party, Hassan, who currently doubles as the Ag state Chairman.
He expressed confidence in the caliber of stakeholders who attended the meeting. They included elected members of the state and national assembly, which he would strengthen the hands of the current caretaker committee towards sacking the key heads of the PDP in Plateau state.
The meeting ended with the passing of a vote of no confidence on the Sango leadership.
Meanwhile, a member of Sango’s faction, Pastor Dakas Nathaniel Dakas disclosed to our correspondent at the party secretariat that before the meeting, key exco members honoured an invitation at the police headquarters in Jos where Chris Hassan tendered an apology to the effect that Sango’s suspension was done illegally. He accused Hassan of double standards.
He said Hassan promised the police that the called state exco meeting was aimed at resolving the lingering crises rocking the state chapter of the party only for him and his team to turn around and pronounce the suspension of Amos Gombi and recommended Sango’s suspension.
