204 persons in one of the Internally Displaced Persons camp, in Jos, Plateau State have been resettled in their ancestral home in Bakin Ladi Local Government on Friday.
They burst into singing and dancing as soon as they disembarked from the buses sent by the state government to convey them home.
Many expressed the hope that the crisis that tore them from their homes would not happen again. Secretary to the state government, Rufus Bature, who represented the governor, Simon Lalong at the occasion, expressed the same hope too.
Commander of the Special Task Force in Plateau, Brig-General Mohammed Bello said the army would secure the troubled spots to prevent reoccurrence of the crisis in the state. The Local Government Chairman at the reception, Mr Dickson Chollom, said he would set up a vigilante group to enforce security and promised to cater to the welfare of the returnees.
Amidst the banters and joy, the returnees were served meals by the STF and given drugs by the state government.
