The Member Representing Olamaboro State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Eneche has described the declaration of his seat vacant as lawlessness on the part of lawmakers who ought to know the law.
In a chat with newsmen after the Kogi State House of Assembly declared his seat vacant on Tuesday during a plenary, Eneche described the lawmakers action as null and void, most especially as he had gone to a Lokoja High court seeking interpretation of section 109 if the speaker can declare his seat vacant.
According to Hon. Eneche, it was wrong for the State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello to have written the house to declare his seat vacant when the House was served yesterday about his seeking the interpretation of section 109.
According to the lawmaker, it was wrong to have deliberated on a matter when it is in court, described action of the speaker as reckless, since he had gone to seek interpretation, seeking to restrain the speaker from declaring his seat vacant.
The lawmaker said the Speaker told him he was directed to declare the seat vacant and wondered how the House would know that he is in court if they had not been served.
Hon. Eneche said the Assembly has refused to pay him for seven months now and all efforts to confer with the Speaker proved abortive as the speaker said he was directed not to pay him
The lawmaker described the action of the speaker and those who directed him to declare his seat vacant when he had not transmitted a letter, wondered why the house would now declare his vacant on heresay.
