From Joseph Amedu, Lokoja

A senatorial candidate on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hajia Halima Alfa has lambasted past senators from the zone for lacking in quality representation in the last sixteen years.
She regretted that Kogi East has not witnessed quality representation at the National Assembly in the last 16 years and there is urgent need to present a credible candidate for Senatorial seat in 2019 general election.
Hajia Halima Alfa who made the accusation while speaking at the Party Secretariat in Lokoja, Tuesday when she came for screening and submission of her nomination form, stressed that there was nothing concrete to show in Kogi East.
The senatorial candidate pointed out that what they have succeeded in doing was breeding of thugs and armed the youths in Igalaland with guns.
She lamented that in terms of attracting infrastructural development to the area has suffered neglect following the paucity of quality representation.
The former commissioner explained that she has always been contesting for the senatorial seat, stressing that she was robbed of her victory through the help of some dubious party leaders .
Alfa claimed she won the PDP primaries at Idah in 2015 noting that the incumbent senator who has never won election in the past came to disrupt the process and they rigged the election in his favour.
She added that measures have been put in place to avoid the repeat of last episode of 2014 PDP primaries in Kogi state.
She pledged to give a qualitative representation and use her connection and readiness to lobby others to attract development to the zone.
