As the race to replace the former deputy leader, House of Representatives, late Rt. Hon. Umar Buba Jibril hots up, an aspirant,
Barr. Abdulrahman Ndakwo Tanko has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would take over the state in the next governorship election.
Tanko, who stated this while on consultation to eight wards in Kogi local government, said the recent futile attempt to recall Senator Dino Melaye of the western axis of the state has proven that the present administration has for long, lost in touch with the people.
He said the PDP led government recorded monumental achievements while piloting the affairs of the state, saying aside human and
infrastructural development, every segment of the state was carried along in the scheme of things.
Tanko, who was a member of the state House of Assembly, said he has decided to contest the seat of Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency in 2019, in view of the zoning of the position to Kogi local government
by the elders of the party, adding that he joined the race because he strongly believed that he has something to offer.
While disclosing that about eight aspirants including him have so far signified interest to contest for the vacant seat under PDP, the
former minority leader in the state House of Assembly urged the leaders and stakeholders of the party to make the right choice, even as stressed that the contest is not a do or die affair.
