The Youth Forum leader of the People Democratic  Party, PDP, in Plateau State, Comrade Joel Jelani  has called on his compatriots to get ready to elect leaders that would work for them and not lord over them

Speaking with our correspondence in Jos, the Plateau State capital, he said the present government  both in state and  federal  levels have failed the people in terms of working for the welfare given the level of hardship everywhere in the country.

He criticised as vain, the recent piece that said Governor Simon Lalong refused to name the state university after late Solomon Lar because of fear of offending powers that be.

“As a patriotic and bona-fide Plateau Man, “I was miffed and shocked at the content of the  article written and circulated on the social media by Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi the member representing Kantana Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly on the 22nd of April,  2018.

In the said article, the anti Plateau agenda scripted and given to Governor Lalong to act was unraveled. Readers were shocked to read that Governor Lalong choose to ignore the call to rename Plateau State University after our father and leader, Baba Solomon Deushep Lar because he didn’t want to offend the powers that be from above.

“This act is not only a display of cowardice but that of betrayal. How on earth do we rationalise naming a major road in the State after a man who hates Plateau passionately while yet we cannot immortalise our first civilian Governor simply because we don’t want to offend Feudal masters from above?

“Going through the antecedents of our Governor, we vividly remember that Governor Lalong is the same person who told the whole world that he appointed a nominated a Hausa/Fulani person as commissioner so that peace will reign in the State. The same Governor Lalong betrayed the Plateau people when ethnic cleansing took place in Benue State.

“For how long shall we continue watching while our Governor play subservient role at the Centre with no commiserate value to our Dear State?

“2019 is a year to reclaim our State from those who are willing to trade off our people for the sake of power. If JD Gomwalk, Baba Paul Gindri, Baba Solomon Lar, Senator Dariye and Senator Jang had betrayed and sold Plateau out,  where would we have been today?

” We stand up and ensure we bring on board the right leadership to enthrone not just good governance but also restore the true Plateau vision come 2019 or we suffer the fate of our indecisiveness which the future generation will never forgive us”, he said.
