Plateau chapter commander of the The Nigeria Civil Defense and Security Corp, NSCDC, Olasupo Solomon has lamented the loss of vital documents and riffles of the command following last Thursday’s downpour in Jos, the state capital.
Solomon who spoke at the temporary headquarters of the NSCDC Plateau state at British American Junction on Monday in Jos North Local Government Area, however thanked Governor Simon Bako Lalong for placing security as one of his topmost priority and delivering four vehicles to the state command to tackle crime.
He said: ”I pray rain should never fall in Jos for the fear that the last week experience of heavy rain storm which destroy vital documents remind me of how helpless we became as most the offices are liking roof ”
He stresses that the 4 Hilux van given by the governor to the state command has been distributed amongst operation’s quick response and intelligence unit for grassroots intelligence gathering to keep Plateau safe.
Solomon said out of the four persons arrested for vandalising transformers and electric facilities two were charged to court while the two are still undergoing trial.
According to him, two of the accused persons were convicted for two years on Thursday by the federal high court sitting in Plateau State capital from order of the Court .
He explained that the havoc did not affect the operations of the command as a trailer load of petroleum product heading to unknown destination suspected to conveying the vehicle to neighbouring community was intercept on Thursday night during operation.
