A Lokoja Chief Magistrate Court has remanded two cattle rearers, Mohammed Osama, 35 and Umoru Sanda in prison custody for allegedly killing one Nurudeem Dahiru in a personal vendetta.
Chief Magistrate Levi Animoku gave the remand order in his ruling on Wednesday on arraignment of the accused.
The accused both of Kokolobi Sasere Fulaní Camp, Koton-Karfe, Local Government, were charged with Criminal Conspiracy and Culpable Homicide contrary to sections 97(1) and 221(a).
The Prosecuting Police Officer, Insp. Friday Shaibu told the court that one Dahiru ldris of Lapai, Niger State reported the matter at the Divisional Police Headquarters Koton-Karfe on April 5.
According to him, Idris alleged that on April 4, at about 11:59pm, the accused and others now at large, criminally conspired and armed themselves with weapons including cutlasses and knives.
He said that they invaded the house of his son, deceased Nurudeen Dahiru at Kokolobi Sasere Fulaní Camp without provocation, tied his hands and killed him with a knife.
He said that the accused had alleged that it was the late Nurudeen Dahiru that killed one Mohammed Bello, a younger brother to one of the accused, Mohammed Osama.
The Prosecuting Police Officer said investigation into the case was on-going and called for adjournment to enable the police complete their investigation but objected to the bail of the accused.
Animoku in his ruling said the offences especially culpable homicide, alleged against the defendants were heinous crimes and the highest offence known to our laws.
The case is adjourned to 2nd May, 2018 for mention.
