Commissioner for Solid Mineral in Plateau state, Ezekiel Daju has made a case for states with abundant mineral deposits to be included in the 13 per cent revenue derivative allocation and fiscal policy of the federal government .
Hon Daju stated this at the Joseph Gwomwalk secretary while commending on the revenue generation to the states that enjoy abundant mineral deposits in mining sectors.
He said that for a state government such as Plateau whose five pillar policy rests on the solid mineral development should not be sidelined for consideration because mineral is under the exclusive list of the federal government .
“The mining area Kampany Zurak mining community in Wase Local Government Area we must see whether they are paying what they are supposed to pay to state, the local government but these artistic miners should carefully look into how they will bring themselves together to form a cooperative unit so the federal /state should interface together for the development of the mining sectors in Nigeria.
“All license they get through steel and mines ministry in Abuja, we have to sit down with critical stakeholders to find ways of bringing policy that can generate revenue to the state, then ploughing it back to the community holistically. We don’t want a situation that leads to removing million in the state and keeping them away.”
