8th Day Fidya Prayer Held For Sen. Adeleke

The eight-day Fidya Prayer for the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke held in his hometown of Ede in Osun state at the weekend. The occasion which attracted dignitaries from far and wide was used to pray for the repose of the soul of the Senator who represented Osun West Senatorial District until his death a fortnight ago. The state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola lead a high power delegation of the state to attend the occasion. They included Deputy Governor, Otunba Laoye- Tomori, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who hails from the state, Yusuf Lasun and a host of others

Few days ago, the state government opened an inquest to ascertain the facts relating to the cause of the Senator’s death.

In a statement, the government said it decided to reverse its earlier decision to give him a state burial for the inquest to rest unhealthy speculations that may cause bad blood and strain relations in the state.

It said” “The State Government of Osun had intended to give him a befitting state burial which he rightly deserved and which the state had prepared to undertake.

“Regrettably however, the enemies of the state, through brigandage, violence and evil machinations, created an atmosphere of fear and terror in the minds of our citizenry and friends throughout the federation.
