Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Wife of Kogi State Governor, Mrs Rashida Bello has urged the Youths across the country to shun acts of violence, thuggery during and after the elections.
She made the call at the Gala Dinner organised by her office to wind down the year.
Mrs Rashida Bello who encouraged the youths to come out in their numbers to exercise their fundamental human rights by voting for the candidates of their choice, admonished them to be good ambassador of their families and the society by shunning thuggery.
Rolling out the success story of Rashida Bello Foundation in the year, she stated that the foundation impacted positively on the lives of many vulnerable groups across the length and breadth of the state.
According to her, the foundation through Direct Reach Out Program ( DROP ) has periodically made available food items at the door steps of the down trodden in the state.
The foundation she said has many interventions in health sector including medical surgeries and free medical outreach to the nooks and crannies of the state where medical challenges were diagnosed and treated with referrals made in complicated cases.
She added that though testimonies and acceptability of the program is overwhelming but plans are on to improve the vision in the coming years.
Speaking at the event, her husband and the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello commended the initiative of his wife towards enhancing the well-being of the vulnerable in the state.
The Governor who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mathew Kolawole, Speaker, said the policy direction of the government is driven by concern for the well-being of the people of the state.
