Senator Theodore Orji, former Abia State governor is not interested in contesting the 2019 presidential election, his Chief Liaison Officer (CLO), Mr. Ifeanyi Umere has said in Umuahia, the capital.
Umere stated this in a signed press statement where he disclaimed a campaign poster of Orji for the election which he said appeared in a Facebook Account, which was obtained by our correspondent.
He said the poster bore the inscription “The answer to Nigeria’s problems” on the top left conner and a picture of the former governor below it, “This is total falsehood machinated by detractors to ridicule the senator.”
The CLO said, to reveal their evil intent, they used the senator’s portrait dating back to 2017 and misspelt his middle name. “Instead of Ahamefule, they wrote Ahamefula, evidently Orji could not have done that.”
According to him, if the message had any semblance of truth, it would have been tendered to his constituency and freely discussed and not passed through Facebook as ” he is not a Facebook Senator.”
Rather, Orji, representing Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly is focused on making quality laws for the governance of the country and adding values to the lives of his constituents, he added.
He listed the values to include award of scholarships to over 180 students of tertiary institutions, youths and indigent widows’ empowerment, skills aquisitions, and health care service delivery among others.
Umere, who argued that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator wants to concentrate on his present assignment, appealed the “the constituents and his teaming supporters to disregard the poster.”
