Bubbling with excitement over the recent Supreme Court ruling that ended the factional leadership power struggle in the party with the Ahmed Makarfi faction emerging victorious over the Senator Modu Sheriff faction, the Peoples Democratic party has fixed its National Convention of the PDP for October.
Before the October date, however, the party has decided on a key slot; the Presidency. The North would take the presidency, while the south takes the vice-presidency. The convention would simple ratify the choice.
Disclosing this information in Minna during a stakeholders meeting on the outcome of the apex court ruling, yesterday, Alhaji Tanko Beji, the Niger State chairman of the party said the leadership of the party arrived at this decision during a celebratory meeting at the national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja on Wednesday.
Already the party leaders have directed each state branch to submit the names of 30 members to serve on the convention planning committee.
Meanwhile, Sheriff has accepted the offer of reconciliation by the Makarfi leadership and sent his congratulations on the Supreme Court verdict.
