Former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau North, Jonah David Jang has declared his intention to join the presidential race on the platform of PDP, arguing that Nigeria’s president should come from the middle belt region.
Jang while expressing his interest at the state party secretariat in Jos said; “On this special day that the Lord has made, I have come here to make history on behalf of myself, my family, the people of my constituency, Plateau State, the Middle Belt of Nigeria, and the entire nation. I have come to formally and officially announce my interest and decision to join the contest for the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the coming 2019 elections…
“I have come with a mantra of Restore Nigeria because I see an urgent need to bring back the founding dream, hope, aspirations and perceptions of greatness of our nation. I believe in Nigeria as a great nation and in its oneness.
“Our Party, the PDP, have zoned the Presidency to the North for the purpose of the 2019 elections. The Middle Belt is at the center of the north, it is the glue of the north, the bridge of Nigeria, the guarantor of national unity and oneness, and has sustained the north over time.
Meanwhile, former Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly Rt Hon George Edward Daika today formally joined the 2019 Plateau Gubernatorial race under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
George Daika who is also a former Member Representing Shendam/Mikang/Quan’pan Federal Constituency stormed the State PDP office with hundreds of his supporters to formally declare his intention.
He was received by members of the state exco of the PDP led by the Chairman, DT Sango.
Sango promised a level playing ground for all aspirants, while reiterating that PDP remains the only credible alternative to the ruling APC, which he said has performed poorly.
On the entourage of Rt Hon George Edward Daika include former State Assembly members, former LG Chairmen as well as former Commissioners who serve the Plateau State Government in the recent past.
