Majority Leader of Abia State House of Assembly, Engineer Chinedum Orji has urged his constituents to arm themselves for the 2019 general election by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Orji stated this in an interview with our correspondent while on his-meet-the-people tour of his constituency, saying obtaining the cards would enable them to vote for candidates of their choice in the election.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the turn out of people for the continous voters registration exercise in the constituency, he warned them of the long term effect of their action at both state and national levels.

The member representing Umuahia Central State Constituency in the House said: “How I wish our people know the political consequences of their aparthy to the exercise to them as a people.”

He appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to step up its public enlightenment campaign for the exercise to ensure total coverage of the constituency on time.

The son of the former governor of the state said the tour had afforded him the opportunity to access the impact of the democracy dividends he had attracted to the constituency as a lawmaker.

According to him, he had also interacted with various interest groups and stakeholders of the constituency on its pressing challenges with a view to finding lasting solutions to them.

“I have identified the following area, primary school education, health care delivery service facilities, water supply, electricity supply, and capacity building as requiring urgent attention,” he noted.

Orji, who called for mutual understanding among the constituents to pursue their common political and economic agenda condemned the act of baseless criticism of leaders by some people.
