Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s kinsman, Sir Friday Nwosu has said that the people of the state have had enough of his failure in office, vowing to defeat him in the 2019 general election.
Nwosu stated this when he declared his intention to contest the governorship of the state on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the state capital, Umuahia.
He said: “His defeat will begin at his polling unit in our local community in Obingwa Local Government Area where he is yet to make any noticeable impact.”
He argued that the Ikpeazu administration had failed to deliver after three years and three months in office, adding that it would not perform any better in its remaining nine months.
Continuing, the legal practitioner who aspired for the post on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014, said even Ikpeazu himself knows he had failed.
Nwosu said if given the mandate, he has the capacity to turn the state around within the shortest time-frame because he knows the challenges and their antidote.
“I will operate with a blueprint contrary to the present situation where the administration has been running from pillar to post without tangible results,” he posited.
According to him, all that the party needed to do to deliver the desired governance was to adopt him as its candidate for the contest, ” to set the state moving for good.”
Introducing the aspirant at the occasion, former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Agwu Ukakwu Agwu assured that Nwosu would deliver the desired change if elected.
He said as he spoke, a number of notable politicians in the state had joined the party and were also mobilizing their supporters in preparation for the kick-off of the campaign.
The former three-time member representing Arochukwu State Constituency stressed that the members should endeavor to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for the election.
In his response, the chairman of the party, Donatus Nwankpa commended the aspirant for his ambition, saying the party’s focus is to form the next government in the state.
