Following in the footsteps of 11 People’s Democratic Party and All Progressives Grand Alliance legislators in Anambra state who defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance last week, the deputy governor, Nkem Okeke on Wednesday abandoned Governor Willie Obiano and APGA to join the APC. the defectors comprised five serving and four former House of Representatives members, as well as, two members of the Anambra State House of Assembly, received in the Imo State Government Lodge in Abuja, last week.

A big fish in Anambra politics, his defection is the 27th defection within a year of opposition members to the ruling APC and may likely dent the image of the ruling APGA and influence the fortunes of the APC in the upcoming November elections.
Dr. Okeke who first served as Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Commissioner for Works and Transport in the administration of Governor Peter Obi, was welcomed into the party by President Muhammadu Buhari, during a meeting on Wednesday, in Abuja, alongside APC Caretaker Committee Chairman Mai Mala Buni, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and other members of the party.
