A Non- Governmental Organisation, Project Start By Mumsbooth, has emphasized the need to equip women and Children with some skills to enable them contribute to the nation’s economic development.
The Convener, Martha Tawiyah, told our Correspondent in an exclusive interview in Abuja, that such skills are necessary to make them less dependent.
“Project Start By Mumsbooth is a programme aimed at training women with business, entrepreneurial and vocational skills to enable them start a business”
According to her, the organization offered training on such skills like, Hair making, soap making, fashion design, and creativity. Other skills include Catering, Event management, Make up and Gele Tying.
Martha Tawiyah explained that the women trained are followed up to start a business with the skills they had learned, while the organisation’s team would provide further training, guidance and financial support to some persons where needed.
She said, we decided to introduce the Kids edition because we figured that a lot of problems we have as adults today is the lack of proper knowledge, adding that starting early enough would go a long way to making things right in the society.
According to her, “We have had 8 editions with about 677 women trained in three cities in Nigeria, we are saying No to poverty by providing jobs and creating a sustainable economy as well as working towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals, SDG’s 1,2,4&8. “
Martha Tawiyah noted that the NGO is open to more volunteers across Nigeria and Africa, appealing for donations to help the organisation reach out to more people.
