Preliminary police report on Tuesday, August 7 invasion of the National Assembly by masked men of the Directorate of Security Services, DSS, yet to be officially released by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has indicted the sacked Director General of the Directorate of Security Intelligence, Lawal Daura for acting on the behest of yet to be identified and named ‘powerful politicians’.

The report quoted the IGP as stating that Daura was not officially invited by the leadership of the National Assembly to send his men to mount the blockade on Tuesday, August 7 and there was no crime committed prior to the invasion.

Stating that Daura “claimed intelligence report that unauthorised persons were planning to smuggle undisclosed weapons and incriminating items into the National Assembly Complex,” yet he informed neither the “Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo nor the Nigeria Police or other security agencies.”

Acting more like “mercenaries, hired to carry out executions”, Daura and the armed officers of the DSS, who wore masks to disguise their identities, went to do a hatchet job. See detailed report below”
