The Chairman of Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhaji Seidu Ademu has given an assurance that the union would live above board in holding governments within its jurisdiction accountable on their mandate.
Ademu said the only way the union can make its contributions and impacts towards nation building is through effective implementation of the constitutional role given to it to hold government at all levels accountable to agreement reached with citizens to offer good governance.
The Chairman who gave the assurance when the management of the Kogi State Directorate of National Orientation Agency (NOA), paid him a courtesy visit at the Press Centre, Lokoja, during the weekend, promised sustained collaboration between the Agency and the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
Ademu also promised maximum support to the Kogi State Office of National Orientation Agency through adequate publicity of its programmes and activities.
Earlier, The Kogi State Director of NOA, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Olurotimi Dare, said that collaboration between his Agency and NUJ had become necessary in view of similar roles performed by both parties and the need to build a virile nation.
He said aside the constitutional roles of NOA to sensitize the public about Government activities and getting feedback on implementation, it also has a mandate of collaboration with the grassroots through the 21 Local Councils in Kogi State to achieve set goals and objectives.
The State Director reassured of the commitment of his management team and staff to build a robust relationship with the Council and all working journalists in the State to fulfil its mandate.
Also in a remark, the Deputy Director, Human Resources Management, HRM, of the Agency in the State, Mr Patrick Edogbanya sought for collaboration in the area of training of NOA staff as well as the need for creating a Chapel in the Directorate office.
