Oil Market Reacts to US- Iran Cease fire
By Ayo Kehinde Brent crude prices fell more than 5 percent on Monday after the United States and Iran paused attacks over the weekend, easing concerns over potential disruptions to global oil supplies and lifting expectations that diplomatic efforts could help contain the conflict. Brent crude futures dropped $4.89, or 5.05 percent, to $91.89 a barrel by 0009 GMT after briefly slipping below the $90 mark earlier in the session. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also declined by $4.67, or 5.23 percent, to $84.64 a barrel. Business women Repay SME Loans Better Than Business men, Moniepoint Says
By Ayo Kehinde Women-run businesses in Nigeria are emerging as some of the country’s most reliable borrowers, recording significantly lower loan default rates than their male counterparts despite longstanding barriers to accessing formal credit. This is the finding by Moniepoint in its 2025 Impact Report. The fintech disclosed that women-owned businesses in its loan portfolio had default rates 2.5 times lower than those of male-owned businesses, strengthening the case for expanding access to finance for female entrepreneurs. The report also showed that lending to women-owned businesses grew by more than 300 percent during the year, while 62 percent of surveyed female entrepreneurs said the facility represented the first formal business loan they had ever accessed. According to the report, women …

IMF Warns Rising Living Costs Will Worsen Poverty In Nigeria Despite Stronger Economic Growth Outlook
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned that rising prices of essential goods will push more Nigerians into poverty and worsen food insecurity, even as it maintained a positive outlook for the country’s economic growth over the next two years. In its July 2026 World Economic Outlook (WEO) Update, the IMF retained Nigeria’s growth forecast at 4.1 per cent for 2026 and 4.3 per cent for 2027, citing improved macroeconomic stability and favourable terms of trade. According to Globalfinancial Digest, the Fund cautioned that persistently high prices for food and other necessities remain a major threat to household welfare. The IMF also downgraded its global growth outlook, projecting the world economy to expand by 3.0 per cent in 2026 and …
