Aba Power Crisis: Landlords Laud Minister for Intervention
The over 20,000 landlords in Aba, the Abia state commercial nerve centre, have lauded the Minister of Power, Engr Abubakar Aliyu, for his intervention last weekend in the disconnection of feeders belonging to the electricity distribution companies in Aba, Kaduna, and Kano that were cut off from the national transmission network for debts owed Federal Government agencies in the power sector. While all 29 Aba Power feeders were cut off for 10 days as a result of the N896m indebtedness that threw the entire Aba Ringfence comprising nine local government areas into darkness, three Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company feeders were taken off the national grid for four days for owing the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) N33bn. Femi Otedola Sells His Shares In Transcorp
Serial investor and billionaire, Femi Otedola has exited his stake in Transcorp Plc, Nairametrics can confirm. Otedola had acquired a 6% stake in Transcorp over a series of carefully orchestrated purchases going almost unnoticed until the acquisition was announced. Nairametrics first announced the acquisition. Reliable sources with knowledge of the transaction inform Nairametrics that the billionaire investor reached a deal with Elumelu to exit the company. The decision effectively staves off a possible greenmail situation for Transcorp which may have turned out murky. Both parties entered negotiations about a possible exit in the early hours of Thursday after both had declared willingness to work together in an apparent bromance. The negotiations leading to the agreement were said to be swift …

20,000 Aba Landlords Mobilise Against TCN Over Blackout
Over 20,000 members of the Aba Landlords Protection and Development Association (ALPDA) will mobilise to the Alaoji power plant in Abia State and occupy it if within the next 24 hours the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) fails to rescind its order which has since last Friday thrown the state into darkness over N896m owed Federal Government agencies in the power sector by Aba Power. Speaking at a press conference in Aba on Friday at its office in Aba, the ALPDA president general, Chief Alphonsus Udeigbo, flanked by executive members of the association, said the disconnection of Aba Power from the sole transmission network violated the Electricity Industry Market Rules (EIMR) of 2010 on two grounds. Chief Udeigbo observed …

Aba Power Crisis: Electricity Consumers Association Accuses TCN of Bad Faith
The Association of Electricity Consumers of Nigeria (AECN) has accused the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) of acting in bad faith by cutting off Aba Power from the nation’s sole transmission line last Friday over N896m it owes government agencies in the power sector. In a statement in Enugu on Thursday signed by the association’s chairman in the Southeast Zone, Engr Joe Ubani, and the secretary, Comrade Chris Okpara, the organisation said, “it is self-evident that Aba Power is clearly targeted for the punitive action by the national transmission network company”. Reacting to the explanation by the Market Operator of the Nigerian Electricity Market, Dr Edmund Aje, that nine electricity distribution firms and three generation companies will soon be …
