From Toluwa Agboluaje, Ibadan
Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and leadership of the National Assembly to commence the process of building Nigerian nation without further delay, stressing that unitary system of government must be abolished for the enthronement of true federalism.
Addressing journalists after its meeting in Ibadan yesterday ,YCE Secretary, Dr. Kunle  Olajide called on  the present administration to urgently revisit 2014 National Conference resolutions and the APC’s el-Rufai’s Committee report on devolution of power, adding that necessary bills on referendum must be forwarded to National and State Assemblies for immediate Constitutional Amendments.
The group decried the high level of security challenges facing the country, calling on the South-West governors to remain steadfast in their efforts to revamp security and dilapidated infrastructure in their region.
YCE also called for diversification of Nigeria’s economy from oil, urging the Federal Government to grant autonomy to federating states to explore, exploit the resources within their domains and deploy it according to their priority.
