The West African Examinations Council on Monday announced that its examinations for the Senior Secondary Students, SSS, would start on August 4 and end on September 5, 2020.
Notifying schools in the Nigeria about this development, Minister of State for Education Mr Emeka Nwajuiba at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 in Abuja on Monday, said states should avail themselves of the window to schedule re-opening schools before or by that time for the concerned students.
He said; “We have done what we should do with WAEC and they have confirmed this afternoon that examinations would hold from August 4 to September 5. The National Technical Board for Education and the National Examination Council, NECO will conduct their exams after that of WAEC.”
He said the Ministry would meet with officials of WAEC and the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT on Tuesday and urged those states that are not prepared to re-open schools for their affected students to decide what to do”
