The best graduating student at the 8th convocation ceremony of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Charles Nworu has been offered automatic employment by the University.
Nworu, with Registration Number 14/17167, who finished during the 2015/2016 Session graduated with First Class Honours in Statistics with a commulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), of 4.91.
He was one of the 98 students that made First Class among the 4,958 that graduated during the occasion which also marked the 25th anniversary of the University, near Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Ogbonnaya Otunta announced the offer, which he described as a policy statement during the convocation ceremony at the playing ground in the campus.
Assuring that the University would continue to provide students enabling atmosphere and conditions to achieve their optimum, he described them as indispensable factor inputs in the knowledge transfer industry.
He said, ” This administration had also considered the plight of the students in the face of the current economic crunch, and approved N10,000.00 in their hostel charges.
In his valedictory address, Nworu, who also won several awards for the feat, attributed the success to focus,hard work, and persistence, dedicated the achievement to both his parents and the University.
