Uproar In Lokoja As Cult Groups Clash, Kill 4, Burn Vehicles

There was pandemonium in Lokoja  on Wednesday following the clash between  two cult  groups in the traditional area of the capital city which claimed four persons during the incident.

According to an eye witness, alleged cult groups from Cantonment area and Kabawa sub-Urban,  all in Lokoja engaged in fierce fighting that resulted to the death of four persons and injury of several cult members and innocent people.

The tricycle (Keke) rider was allegedly killed when he was said to have refused to evacuate his passengers to convey the wounded cult members to hospitals
.
The three others were believed to be suspected cultists who died as a result of injuries sustained by matchet  and knife cuts during the unfortunate incident.

Scores of assorted brands of vehicles and tricycles were smashed and set ablaze by the estranged cult groups .

Motorists and commuters were not spared from the onslaught as they were not only molested by the criminals, but were said to have been dispossessed of money and valuables in unquantifiable amount.

However, a detachment of anti riot policemen has been drafted to the affected area to maintain law and order

Confirming the incident,  Police Public Relations Officer, DSP William Aya, Nigeria Police force, Kogi Command, said one person died and three injured.

He explained that the clash was not political, but cult clash between rival groups

Aya also disclosed that three persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
