There is much flutter in the camp of The Eagles as the World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia comes up at the GoodswillAkpabio Stadium, Uyo Saturday with coach Rohr and team captain, Mikel Obi expressing undue worry despite beating the east African giants 2-1, away.
Coach Rohr has said his side will not underrate the Chipolopolo who beat the Algeria team home and away in their encounter because of some of the young though untested talents in side of the East African Champions and 2012 African Champions. They are the Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka (18), Spartak Moscow forward Fashion Sakala (20) and Orlando Pirates attacker Justin Shonga (20), which Coach Wesson Nyirenda, aspiring to be the first coach to take the national side to the World Cup, boasts in his team
Surprisingly, Captain Obi, not minding that The Eagles are in a commanding place to qualify for their sixth World Cup after amassing 10 points from four games to sit atop Group B, said that though the team is focussed, they will need to play as a team against the Chipolpopolo, who are second in the table with seven points and a win may well, put them in strong contention.
But Minister of Sports Dalong has expressed confidence that The Eagles will win the match and get the maximum three points to book their ticket to the Russia 2018 and FIFA qualifier.
Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel has redeemed his pledge of $10,000 per goal against the Lions of Cameroun and promised a $50,000 flat rate for a win against the Chipolopolo.
