Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State
A group of irate youths have vandalised the campaign office of Alhaji Sule Lamido around Kwalwa House in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau state on Wednesday evening, destroying valuable items meant for electioneering. Lamido , former governor of Jigawa State, is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
The Plateau state chapter of Sule Lamido Support Group for 2019 made this disclosure on Thursday while addressing a world press conference on the recent attacks on opposition parties in the state, allegedly being perpetuated by APC.
The state secretary, media group, Sadat Garga and the state Public Relations Officer, Abaukar Mohammad Badu, decried the level at which the opposition parties in the state were being threatened.
They said: “We have challenged the All Progressive Congress, APC to focus and concentrate on good governance and stop harassing and intimidating opposition parties across the country, even as it has been reminded to note that good democracy only thrives with existence of opposition parties.
“APC is taking part in the destruction of properties of other political parties, and we will not seat and watch these people truncate democracy.
” When PDP was in power for sixteen years, we were not attacking opposition parties rather, we focused on physical and human development, but to our greatest surprise, in the last few weeks we have been witnessing a new tradition of pulling down of bill boards belonging to PDP by the APC.
“On Wednesday, we closed from work here after 5pm, and we woke up this morning to realise that the flex of banners used in this office as symbol for supporters of Sule Lamido 2019 ambition were vandalised and removed and we have reported to the landlord, the police and we got hint of those of who did that and we will soon expose them”.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Plateau Command of the Nigeria Police Force, ASP, Tyopev Mathias said he cannot confirm the incident until he hears from the DPO in the LGA where the alleged offence was committed.
Meanwhile, claiming to be involved with the visit of President Muhammad Buhari to the state, some officials of the ruling party kept tight lips over the incident.
