Unknown gunmen in military uniforms stormed a sleepy town of Magongo in Ogori Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi state and shot dead a 28- year old pregnant woman right in front of her family house in the area.
According to one of the elder brothers of the deceased, Mr. Idowu Pelemo said the incident occurred on Wednesday night at about 9 pm in Magongo.
He said some men in military uniforms in three Hilus vans with registration number Lokoja 446 KG with another one painted in army colour with registration number 014 allegedly chased a driver from Ibilo in Edo state to Magongo.
According to him, immediately the driver of the vehicle got to Magongo, he alerted from his vehicle and escaped, adding that the men in military uniforms started shooting sporadically as people started to run for their lives, but his sister who was standing in front of her house was hit by stray bullets.
He said the men in military uniforms rushed her to a medical facility in the village and abandoned her to die when they saw that her case was irredeemable.
” Those men in army uniforms normally station their vans along Ageva. From what one of the soldiers told me, he said they wanted to arrest the driver because the said driver and some of his colleagues miss bahaved to some of their officers in Okene,” he said.
He mentioned that the men in army uniforms, following a tip- off ambushed the said driver who was coming from Ibilo in Edo state and was heading to Okene, and on getting to Magongo he ran out of his car and the men in army uniforms started shooting.
